OUTREACH IN NEW YORK JUNE '07
REPORT FROM THE EMT (EQUIPPING, MOBILIZING AND TRAINING SCHOOL ) IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY JUNE 21-24 WE DID THREE MAJOR OUTREACHS BACK TO BACK
THIS IS A REPORT FROM “CHUCK” A MAN FROM OHIO WHO ATTENDED THE CLASS AND WENT ON OUTREACH FOR THE FIRST TIME
Dear Team,
It didn't take long to have an adventure. The decision was made by the conference leadership not to go to the poor but to go to the affluent instead. They felt that most of us had ministered to the poor before and felt comfortable with that , but most of us felt intimidated by the affluent and the New Agers. (They were correct . )
Tonight was a hoot! We wanted to find a place to talk to people about their dreams and have a training session. I walked up to a restaurant, started a conversation with a guy at a table out front. We told him we were looking for a place to do a documentary on dream interpretation. It turned out he was the owner of the restaurant and invited us to use a room upstairs. The next thing you know we had a room full of non Christians, I bought some appetizers, and we had a party! We had about 7 people share their dreams on camera and our team helped them to understand them from a spiritual perspective. We ate food, shared stories, talked to waitresses and had a ball. God opened up the doors like we owned the place. People we never met before were sharing their innermost hearts with us. When we left the whole staff including the owner thanked us and asked us to come back. It was the neatest time I had in a long time.
So the second night we went to a strip center in Hoboken, NJ and walked the streets looking for spiritual encounters. Hoboken is a very nice nightspot with clubs everywhere. We broke into 4 groups and went on our own unique adventures. Our group was drawn to this psychic shop and we saw these 5 teenage girls go inside. We decided that we should wait for them to come out.
They came out in about 5 minutes and we asked them if they had gotten a reading. They said no, that it was too expensive so we as ked them if we could give them a "spiritual reading", that we were at a spiritual training class and would like to practice on them. We were also doing a documentary on dream interpretation, so we had a camera there and they were excited to be a part.
They excitedly came over and sat down on a city bench and we began to ask them to share their dreams. It was incredible! The Lord had given each one of them a unique dream that was calling to their heart for them to know him. A fter the dreams , everyone in the team had an opportunity to share what they saw in the Spirit of God. Before they knew it, the girls were all crying and hugging, and marveling at how the creator knew their very hearts. One brother stepped up and said that they knew about God but asked if they would they like to really know him personally, and all five of them prayed to accept Jesus into their hearts. It was amazing. There we are in front of a Psychic shop leading people to Jesus!
The rest of the groups had the same kind of amazing encounters and we all got together and marveled at the wonders of God!
What is amazing is that no ones wants to talk about "Christianity" but everyones to talk about spirituality. Every one has an inner man yearning to know their creator but the "Church" has done such an awful job at communicating it that unless you remove all of the religious jargon and be willing to lay down your golden calves of religious "stuff" they will never listen. We were taught to make their spiritual journey the priority and not out spiritual agenda! It was hard! but a good lesson learned.
So overall it was a very enlightening and an equipping time for me. I feel that God is equipping his saints for the harvest and that he is raising me up as a trainer, a cheer leader, and at the same time a doer of the calling of God.
THIS IS CINDY’S REPORT
Sunday night, after dinner with marianne and some of us left over, we encountered three girls walking down the street talking about their trip to the psychic that had happened moments before we encountered them. I overheard their conversation and asked permission to do a reading for them. Our team, (6 of us) took turns prophesying over them. it was "spot on" and then we asked them how we did in contrast to the psychic. their response was that the psychic was an idiot and told the one girl who had paid for a reading that she had negative energy all around her, told her how long she would live and then instructed her to bathe with crystals in a dark bathroom.
seeing thru my fury of this (excuse me) "crap", I instructed them that we hear from God and He sent us there to instruct them, basically, about a trap being set for them by satan to get them dependant on paying for and receiving words for guidance thru the psychic medium.
we told them about God, that we are followers of Jesus and then BROKE OFF THE DEATH WORDS from the girl and her friends. told them to find a church that practices the prophetic (that is the best we could do - they are from Washington state) and that true guidance comes from the One who made them not the psychic.
my major concern is that death words are being spoken all the time by this arena to very hungry, seeking, spiritually open young people and their destinies are being diverted by their words.
WE MUST RAISE UP PEOPLE TO REACH THESE PEOPLE WITH METHODS THAT ARE RELATIVE TO TODAY AND CANCEL THE TRAPS SET FOR THEM IN A NON-RELIGIOUS WAY.
these girls and their response is a prime example of the school and the way we are trying to train.
On Saturday afternoon, we encountered a street performer, a contorsionist from Jamaica. We were filming, but he asked us not to because he has a contract with “America’s got talent”. But we asked him questions regarding his dreams. At first he was blowing us off, but then sought us out of the crowd to tell us a dream about his deceased father. I began to explain that he has two fathers and one is God. His perception of God is that He is not a “He”. Communicating out of his limited understanding, I could feel the Holy Spirit begin to come all over me. (when that happens, I am told by people I encounter that my eyes change color) anyway, he stopped talking and said, “Your eyes are brilliant and full of light” then he said, “who is in you, looking back at me?” It was SOOOO COOOL. This totally arrested him and we went from a head to head conversation to a spirit to spirit conversation. I told Him, “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” And He is the one looking back at you because Jesus lives inside me and has His arms out to you.
Because he had to do another performance, I wasn’t able to pray with him, but he will never forget that. It was clear that he was totally captivated by God’s presence.
The stories go on and on. One team hung out around where the psychic was and encountered people coming and going from her and gave them REAL prophetic words for free. 5 girls got saved and SPIRIT FILLED on the street having come out of the psychic.
